Benefits of grafting compounding


Grafting modification of polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) involves introducing chemical functional groups or polymer chains onto the PP/PE polymer backbone. This modification can enhance the properties and performance of these polymers for various applications. Grafting can be achieved by different methods, including reactive extruder systems, surface modification, grafting and graft copolymerization of synthetic and natural polymers with maleic anhydride.



Melt grafting

It is conducted by mixing the PP/PE resin with a grafting agent or monomer and then subjecting the mixture to heat and mechanical shear forces in a twin screw extruder. This method is suitable for large-scale production.
